If conditions prevent installing additional traditional through-the-deck drains, the alternative way to effectively reduce a ponded area is to install a self-sufficient, solar powered (PB-2000) pump unit.
The PB-2000 system is a totally enclosed, uniquely designed water pumping system that acts as an auxiliary drain. The self sustainable unit is placed at the lowest point of the ponded area. When the ponding water reaches a critical depth,the solar powered pumping system automatically activates and starts the draining cycle. Flexible drainage lines are run from the PB-2000 into an existing roof drain, downspout or over the edge of the roof up to 100' away. The PB-2000 will pump up to 36" in a vertical application, like a parapet wall. The unit will effectively remove up to 95% of the total ponding water under normal conditions.

The Pond Buster units self-contained, energized by a solar power source that will operate on its own for up to 10 days without direct sunlight. The unique power source needs less than 4 hours of direct cumulative sunlight to completely recharge the internal battery powered system.
When exposed to direct sunlight, the PB-2000's power source is constantly re-energized by the Sun through the unique solar panel. The PB-2000 unit is completely safe, portable, self-sufficient and nearly cost-free to operate.
The PB-2000's unique battery powered system eliminates the need for electrical outlets or dangerous extension cords on the roof.

THE PROBLEMS
WEIGHT OVERLOAD
Ponding water on a roof can exert a dangerous overload on the building structure. Ponding water weighs approximately 5 lbs. per inch per each square foot of roof surface. A ponded area 20’x 20’ @ 1” deep would equal 400 total square feet @ 5 lbs per foot or a roof live weight of 2,000 pounds!
That’s ONE TON of live roof load putting stress on your structure!
A HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE ISSUE When water is not drained from the roof in a timely manner,several things can occur. Ponded water facilitates the growth of algae, creates an environment where mosquitoes can thrive and standing water encourages the growth of harmful fungal material that could affect air quality in the building.
VOIDS ROOFING WARRANTIES
Ponding water is detrimental to all roofing types and in many cases will void the manufacturer’s roof system warranty.
